1929 Shinobu Suzuki establishes the company in Shizuoka Prefecture.
1940

POLA Chemical Industries, Inc. is formed.

1946

POLA Cosmetics, Inc. is launched.

1954

The Shizuoka Plant is completed.

1958

Expansion into Hong Kong is the company's first venture into overseas markets.

1960

The POLA Ginza Building is completed in Ginza, Tokyo.
POLA USA is established. Full-fledged overseas expansion begins.

1961

The Yokohama Plant is completed and the mass production system is put into place.

1964

The Yokohama R&D Center, offering all modern science resources, is completed.

1966

POLA COSMETICS (Thailand) Co.,Ltd. is established.

1971

The POLA Gotanda Building is completed and POLA headquarters offices are relocated.

1976

POLA Research Institute of Beauty and Culture is established.

1977

The Fukuroi Plant is completed.

1979

POLA establishes the POLA Foundation for the Promotion of Traditional Japanese Culture in celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary.

1982

POLA makes major inroads into the health foods market with nationwide sales of Saint Bijou.

1983

POLA becomes a major investor in Kayaku Co., Ltd. and enters the pharmaceutical business.

1989

POLA’s department store business commences with nationwide sales of the “APEX-i” personalized cosmetics line.

1994

The 18th Congress of IFSCC*1 is held in Venice, Italy,where POLA wins the highest award.

1995

The Health Science Research Center is established.

The POLA Art Foundation is established.
POLA wins a high award at the 19th IFSCC Congress held in Sydney, Australia.

1997

The Shizuoka and Fukuroi plants receive ISO 9002 certification.

1998

New quasi-drug ingredient, Rucinol®, for brightening is developed.
POLA wins the highest award at the 20th IFSCC Congress held in Cannes, France.
The Shizuoka and Fukuroi plants receive ISO 9001 certification.

2000

The Shizuoka and Fukuroi plants receive ISO 14001 certification.
The corporate message, “Consultation first POLA,” is announced.

2002

POLA introduces its “New Venture Declaration.”
The POLA Museum of Art opens at Sengokuhara in Hakone. The POLA Museum Annex opens in Ginza.

2004

The Fukuroi Plant receives the Prime Minister’s Award, recognizing it as an Outstanding Green Plant.

2005

“POLA THE BEAUTY” premium esthetic salons are launched.

2006

Pure holding company POLA ORBIS HOLDINGS INC. is founded.

2007

POLA Sales, Inc. is integrated into the headquarters.
POLA Cosmetics, Inc. is renamed POLA Inc.

2008

POLA wins the Best Basic Research Award at the 25th IFSCC Congress held in Barcelona, Spain.

2009

The POLA Ginza Building is renovated in Ginza, Tokyo.

2010

POLA ORBIS HOLDINGS INC. is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange First Section.
Granted the “Kurumin” next-generation certification mark from the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.

POLA introduces its “AAA (Anti-Aging Alliance) Declaration.”
POLA introduces its Communication Message, “Consultation A POLA.”

POLA wins the Best Poster Award at the 27th IFSCC Congress held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Shizuoka and Fukuroi plants are integrated.
POLA wins the highest award at the 28th IFSCC Congress held in Paris, France.

POLA is awarded the Diversity Management Selection 100 Award (a Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry commendation).
